“Family” is a many-splendored thing

by Mark Etling on January 10, 2014

Our study of Catholic social teaching about the family requires a clarification right off the bat. We want to be clear about what we – and the Church – mean by “family.”

For us here at St. Vincent’s “family” means many things – the nuclear family; the blended family; the single-parent family; the “empty-nester” family; the unmarried or formerly married; those in religious life. Whatever our particular life situation may be, we all belong to a family.

And – we all belong to the St. Vincent’s family.
